Every individual has its own fields of interests, capabilities and talents, it is been observed that, people usually perform well in the areas in which he/she is interested and passionate about. Education institutions sole aim is to find the talent hidden in each individual, so that they can excel in his/her life. Some people do well in science whereas others are good in arts. The role of education institutions should not be to impose a fixed set of study curriculum on the students. Students also deserve to get some set of choices and options, so that they don't lose interest and faith in education system.
Education institutions which impart basic education comprising of first few years of school education should provide all the possible career options, they shouldn't force students to choose a particular career path, because at this stage, a student is in the process of discovering those areas in which he would like to make up a career. Some students pick up their areas of interests quickly while for some this period is rather longer. During this period, students should be left to choose a set of career paths from a wide array of options.
In later periods of student life, the higher education institutions can assist the students in analyzing their skills and suggest them to choose a career path in which they perform the best. Academicians can play a vital role in gauging the strong and weak areas of students. They can provide career counseling to analyze the hidden strength of a person. It may be possible that a person takes a wrong decision in choosing a career path, and ends up being an unsuccessful person in life. All successful personalities have one thing in common, that is they focused their energy in a particular field in which they perform better than other fields. So, the secret of success is to concentrate our focus in the fields in which we are interested and perform the best rather than doing something in every field and becoming jack of all trades but king of none.
Moreover the right of choosing a career path is entirely a self decision. Education institutions can only advise the students what may be right for an individual, they have no right to impose any field of study on them, as whatever path an individual takes, she will be mostly held responsible for the failures and successes of her life.
