Energy & Resource Scarcity : An Evitable problem of the Future.

It’s being said that third World War will be fought for water.  It may become true as our energy needs are increasing day by day while our resources are dwindling.  Factors like population increase & industrialization are further accelerating the rate of resource consumption. The only solutions of the problem are efficient usage of resources & accretion of renewable sources of energy.

At present, our energy needs depends on coal & petroleum products. These resources have been utilized from more than hundred years. Heavy industrialization & building new infrastructures further added burden on these resources. Apart from being non-renewable resources of energy, they also pollute our environment. Large scale mining for these energy resources are also detrimental for our life. In-spite of these grave setbacks, we display indecisiveness in refraining from usage of non-renewable resources. In developing countries with high population like India & China, the problem is more severe. These countries may face the wrath of energy & resource scarcity even though they have burnt much lesser fossil fuels than developed nations who has been using them from ages. Moreover, there is a huge inequality in per capita resource consumption between developed & developing nations. Per capita resource consumption in developed nations is far greater than their under-developed & developing counterparts where a major part of the population lives below the international poverty line of $2/day.
In order to curb the ongoing problem, we have to rely on efficient energy utilization. The major part of the non-renewable energy goes untapped due to inefficient energy utilization process. Our gradual industrial development led to more efficient cars & engine, but still our technology lacks efficient energy utilization.
Another solution can be usage of renewable sources of energy like tidal energy, wind energy, solar energy etc. These sources of energy can satisfy our needs without affecting our ecosystem. There has been many breakthroughs in renewable sources of energy; however, we are way behind in mass utilization of these resources. A recent innovation in renewable energy,  generates energy from the  pathway converting the mechanical energy imparted by the pedestrians on the pathway to electrical energy.
As the non-renewable resources are getting exhausted the future generation will be left with huge energy demand & scarce resource supply. It’s the duty of present generation to use the resources in efficient manner delegate the dependency on renewable sources of energy.
